An archival limited-edition print of an original painting created with sandstone gathered from San Diego and Santa Barbara, and charcoal collected from Topanga Canyon following the Palisades Fire.
I crushed and ground the gathered sandstone and charcoal into pigments in my studio, then worked them directly into the original canvas. Their natural variations created the warm mineral tones, smoky blacks and gestural textures within San Diego 2 - allowing the Southern California landscape itself to determine the palette.
Created as part of Pigments of Place: Southern California, the original painting brings together materials gathered along the coast and from the fire-marked canyon. It holds a physical record of the region; not simply an image inspired by Southern California, but a surface materially formed from it.
This archival giclée edition faithfully reproduces the original painting’s color, gesture and texture. Printed with archival inks on fine-art paper or canvas, it preserves the visual story of the gathered materials but does not contain the raw pigments themselves.
Limited edition of 50 across all sizes and materials.
Signed, numbered and accompanied by a Certificate of Authenticity documenting the materials and their geographic origins.
Your print is individually produced to order and carefully prepared for shipment. Please allow approximately 2–4 weeks for production.
