I gathered and processed the charcoal, basalt and pyrite by hand, crushing and grinding them into pigments before working them directly into the original canvas. Their natural variations created the smoky blacks, volcanic greys and subtle mineral highlights within the work.
Oregon 1 reflects the elemental character of the Oregon landscape through carbon, volcanic stone and mineral—not simply depicting the region, but carrying its physical materials within the original surface.
This archival giclée edition faithfully reproduces the original painting’s color, gesture and texture. Printed with archival inks on fine-art paper or canvas, it preserves the visual story of the gathered materials but does not contain the raw pigments themselves.
