Jessyjo Darling presents ‘Pigments of Place - Southern California’, at Roam Homeware in La Jolla.

Known for her intuitive, nature-driven compositions, Darling’s work reflects a deep sensitivity to the rhythms of the natural world. Using only earth pigments gathered by hand, her paintings are layered and atmospheric, evoking elements of land, water, and air through a visual language that feels both grounded and improvisational, like a quiet dialogue between environment and emotion.

This body of work is created from earth pigments gathered along the Southern California coast, allowing each piece to carry the story of place; its geology, its ancestral lineage, and the unseen, metaphysical energy held within the land.

“The land holds millions of years of history. I act as a conduit, translating it through color, layer, and presence. Through light and shadow, I create depth—inviting the viewer beyond the surface to feel, interpret, and connect to place.”
