New Mexico

For this series, I collected charcoal, sandstone and clay from Ghost Ranch and Plaza Blanca in Northern New Mexico.

I first visited New Mexico in August of 2015, when my husband and I drove through while venturing across country. I was taken by the otherworldly rock formations, auburn canyons and broken mesa’s. Since returning I have discovered the deep sense of spirit and sacredness that lies in its earth. The colors so vivid, striking and warm that I am pulled to visit, again and again. I painted this series in the beginning of 2024 and feel such deep honor and reverence to be able to create this body of work.

This series is currently on exhibition at Folklore Santa Fe until May 27th, 2024. Please contact casey@folkloresantafe.com for any inquiries.
